You do not know how hard it is until you are caught in between a rock and a hard place.
As much as it is easy to tell someone to pick a side, it is never easy to do so.
It is like what the Chinese say, 手心手背都是肉。 For non-Mandarin speakers, it means that both the front and back of one’s hand is flesh. And no matter which side of the hand you sacrifice, you are going to lose part of yourself.
And it is easy for you to pick sides when all along there is only one side for you.
